A Return to Exceptional Randomness

Egan asked, a while back, what is unique about me. I am hoping that these little pieces of information answer his question as, given that I am who I am, answering it is more difficult than it might be for another.

That said, if you have questions, ask away. And now...

Ba Doozie tagged me to write seven things about myself and tag seven more.

I enjoy giving massages though I am not overly fond of receiving them. Oh, I like my shoulders rubbed or a good foot massage once in a while, but, for the most part, I am a hands-on kind of girl.

I have found (unfunded, personally certified field study) that one can truly live off bread, cheese, chocolate, and a healthy dose of exercise and nature.

I was supposed to do an internship on the Gold Coast of Australia. I was so excited - it was the coast, Australia, and well, what is there not to like about that idea? (If you have not been to Australia, by all means, go!) But the internship fell threw. I was faced with the options of Dublin or nothing. Of course, I went to Ireland, worked with a parliamentarian, ended up meeting some great Swedes, and spent the holidays in Sweden - where I had never been. I never refuse the opportunity to travel!

There are many things that I always wanted to do - sky diving, hang gliding, to name but two. Now that I am a single parent, I am not sure that I will do them. My fear is not for my own life but that were something to happen to me, my daughter would grow up without a parent.

I am a pragmatists. I am not ethnocentric. Unless you know me well, it can appear that I have no opinions when I actually do.

I believe in honesty, perhaps, to a fault.

I am passionate (and then some)!

And one extra - I am so excited (though he might not be) as a good friend is going to be CONUS in just over a year! I have so missed being able to pick up the phone and chat with him about the state of the world, history, kids, men...everything.

And if you want to play, leave me a comment so I can read what you write!

You definitley are the exception. Most people, including me, like to get massages much more than they like to give them.

I have always wanted to go to Ireland. What a fantastic experience for you!

Very fun facts about you....I really enjoyed this. But what's a CONUS?

The Exception said...

Beth - It is odd, I know. And it isn't that I don't like being touched as I do.

LeiselB - They are fun but challenging. I find myself trying to pick this or that little bit out of a lifetime of little bits. I just hope that the pieces I pick or of interest.

CONUS means Contiguous United States. He is currently OCONUS (outside). I usually write "State side" so I am not sure why I wrote CONUS today outside location as that is the way we say it at work, which is where I was writing this morning.

Oh, I'm with you on the massage thing. I detest getting them but love to give them. Wow, I'm going to incorporate that into my next pick up line...

Brandy - you will have to let me know how it works as, most men I know "love" massages - receiving not giving! You may have great success.

I like giving massages also

My previous job used CONUS to mean Continental US. As in, not including AK and HI.

Count me in the group that would rather give than receive a massage. But then again, I am a selfish lover.

Scott - It can mean that too. Is there a difference between the two? And, what was your previous job?

TAG - I am just the opposite!

Beth - Forgot to say that Ireland is fabulous - a very green and friendly country. If you have a chance, it is worth a visit. I really like the western counties.

Difference? Not sure :) Former naval officer.

I don't really like giving or getting a massage...I'm sorta weird Thanks for playing along!

what does "CONUS" mean?

The Exception said...

Scott - That is what I guessed. I work with a lot of Army and AF guys - definitely lacking on the unique formerly Navy mind here.

Ba Doozie - CONUS means Continental or Contiguous United States.

It was fun. Tag me anytime.

Wow, all these people not liking to receive massages... WHERE ARE ALL OF YOU IN MY DAILY LIFE? I WILL PAY.

Great list! I never refuse the opportunity to travel either.

Don't be so quick to say you are the opposite of my selfish lover until you read the post. You might be surprised at how much we agree.
