Sometimes I think that my life revolves around the Diva's ballet schedule. We can't go out of town or do this or that because... she has ballet. This week, starting today and ending Sunday, is all, about, ballet! (She has performances Saturday and Sunday)
Last Sunday I wanted to do something different; I wanted to enjoy our free day in an exciting way. I thought it would be fun to do some shopping, eat at a cafe, and then find the Diva a new bike in preparation for the end of the rigorous ballet season.
The Diva, on the other hand, was of one mind... a new bike. Forget spending time enjoying the mall or a relaxing lunch or even a snack! She happily picked out some reading material for backstage entertainment and then... she was ready to find a new bike.
On our way to the bike shop, I expressed my disappointment. Yes, I could have forced the issue. I could have made her shop for a while longer and forced her to sit in a cafe for lunch or a snack, but this tactic isn't always rewarding for anyone. It just wasn't worth the energy to fight this battle as I knew that I wouldn't win. Neither of us would have had a good time.
The Diva found her bike and happily tried it out. When she return to the house, she told me to go up stairs and stay there - she had a project she wanted to do; a surprise for me.
While I entertained myself with books and laundry, she recreated a cafe and the bookstore.
When everything was ready, she changed into her server costume and handed me a menu. She delivered the food and took care of the check! She then accompanied me to the "bookstore" where I could relax amidst the books.
There are some days when my daughter drives me crazy - when plans go awry due to single mindedness or the simple wants and desires of another.
And then there are days, like Sunday, (and most days) when I feel incredibly blessed to have such a wonderful daughter!

Haha! She totally made up for it :)
That brought a smile to my face. One of those precious moments you want to bottle up and save for all time.
Sometimes I think your life revolves around that ballet schedule, too. But with a girl like that, it's easy to see why. :)
That's pretty damn cool. Props to the DIVA!
Scotty - She more than made up for it.
Mike - It was one of those moments when my heart swells and I tear up... and I don't do that often except with her.
JR - The Diva has a shirt that says - Without ballet, What's the pointe? And those are her feelings. It is hard but she loves it so much that it is worth it!
Thinking Fool - She is a fabulous kid... she makes me look like a better parent than I am (she deserves all the credit)
Yeah... they do that shit. Just when you're about to kill them, they do sumpin cute! ;)
