You've Got What it Takes

Last week in "Face Value" I mentioned a line from a song.  While the post has been one that I have been wanting to write for months, it didn't come together until the song "You've Got What It Takes" entered my brain after grabbing my morning fix at Starbucks.  (coffee and flirting with the great guy behind the counter is a great way to start any morning)

The incident in the post did happen, and it did bother me, but probably not as much as one might have thought by reading the post.  Writing about it was somewhat like giving a child a kiss for that invisible boo boo - a reminder that, although something stings at the time, it does get better and life is wonderful.

As one of my dear friends roommates commented years later about me - when we were freshmen in college  - She has character.  (I totally loved this roommate by the way.  She was great and had a great sense of people... and she was from Massachusetts!)

Character... now that is something I liked then and I like now.

The reality is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  We have to move beyond  our perceptions of what others say or think and remember who we are at heart.

The Diva has a wonderful saying that she read in a book:  I am bigger than my fears, my heart is strong, and my mind is my own- paraphrased from Bradley Trevor Greive.

It is not about the car we drive, where we live, the clothes we wear, or the amount of money we have.  Rather, it is about the person that we are and how we see ourselves!

It is a great feeling to look in the mirror and say -  "Baby, You've Got What It Takes!"

It is so valuable to not only know good character but to be mature enough to know it in yourself.

Character
Something that says a lot, without saying.

It is the entire person that is attractive. I know this is a cliche statement, but it's very true. You know it, and I know it. It's just all gotta come together nicely.

No doubt, you get LOTS of attention from men. They just too scurred to let you know it. ;)

That is a great feeling!

I believe that the Dave Clark 5 sang that song. It's one of my more favorite (is that correct grammar??) british invasion tunes!

Once we truly start believing that, that we don't really care what others think about us, we are free.

I think it's a daily, mindful practice ...

I say it, and I feel it, and then every once and awhile, something happens and I react. Poorly. Sigh. It's so complicated being human!

You're in the wrong nation if you're looking for that...
