Scattered Thoughts

I have now attempted to write several posts - none of them have sounded quite right.  There are thoughts of all shapes and sizes and colors and temperaments running through my head right now - and they are half baked and incomplete at best.

The purpose of this blog was to help me catch those thoughts; to keep them from scattering to the wind; and to rid them from my mind so that I can think more clearly.  In that light, here are the things running through my head at the moment.

  • What am I going to do about my nephew's half birthday?  I send him a half birthday gift due to his birthday being on Christmas.  (And yes, I know I don't need to have a gift until the end of June).  This year I was so smart and found a great book called "Cool Stuff."  What 7 year old kid would not love this book.  I bought it.  Before I give a book to anyone, the Diva reviews it to ensure that it is a good gift.  She loved the book.

"Look!"  She exclaimed "Can you believe that is how I started!"

I cringed inside.  Being thankful that I had the Diva review the book, I went to see why she was so excited.

The authors have done a wonderful (and I mean it is well done) two page spread on IVF in a section on cells.  The Diva (only 8) was fascinated by the needle breaking through the membrane circling the egg to implant the sperm.

*sigh* This is probably not going to go over very well with my SIL and my brother.

So, now I am seeking a new gift for my nephew for his half birthday.

  • Marketing the upcoming spring performance of the ballet... how!!

WE have two weeks to spread the word and increase the audience for the upcoming ballet performance.  It promises to be a fun show with Acts I and III performed in character shoes with Russian folk music.  Act II is classical ballet.  It is a performance that is new to the school so, there might be some kinks, but I am sure that it will be fun all the same - balalaika music is always fun, right?

But I am not a marketing specialist.  I have no idea how to get people to come to the performance.  And yet, I am one of a few moms trying to do all we can to fill 500 seats!  It is for the girls after all.

  • My 20 year reunion is in June and the website... well, the website is kind of interesting at best.  Maybe there is something I can do to help?

  • I have a meeting with the Diva's teacher on Thursday to discuss her options for the upcoming year, references and recommendations - that kind of thing.  I am already trying to figure out how to ensure that I word things correctly as to not put the teacher on the defensive.  I never intend to do this, but sometimes it feels like it happens all the same.

So many little things... But now that I have written them and shared them, perhaps I will find the space to work through them!

After reading, they look like very surmountable issues. ;-)
