The Fun Text

I perched on the chair on my side of the bar.  Here I sat watching as he created a wonderful meal of shrimp and pasta purchased fresh that morning.  Here I sat smelling the wonderful spices blending together as we chatted about work and family and the week ahead.  And now, here I sat, meal completely enjoyed, table cleared, and feeling quite content.  He busily finished kitchen clean-up while I contemplated the ending of a wonderful meal and a nice day.

My mobile phone sat on the counter next to me when an idea hit.  I picked it up and quickly found his number to send a text:

Thank you for a wonderful meal sexy, and a great day.

Send

Less than a second passed before he looked at me and then read the text.

I dislike mobile phones for various reasons.  I dislike the way some allow their phones to interrupt and take priority over a meal with family or friends or something similar.  They have become a means of side stepping personal interaction, but... (and isn't there always a but?)

But there are times when being able to send a fun, and dare I say flirty text, add to an evening or seem to cap off a wonderful time shared.

That's awesome. Put a smile on my face. A perfect flirty way to use texting.

DH - I am the Master of the flirty text! (Mostly because I am one of those annoying women who doesn't know when to stop... and goes with the moment!) ;)

It's a double edged sword. While it can be fun and flirty. However with no tone attached to it many misunderstandings can happen.

T - It was both. The food was fabulous!

Mike - So true though I find that e-mail lends itself to tone mix-ups far more than the brief words required to text. Anything can happen and everything with caution.

A mobile phone can be one of the most useful additions to ones life. As long as you control it, and it doesn't control you.

That was the purrrrrrrfect way to use communication. LOVE IT!

(One reason I hate it that my boyfriend doesn't have text on his phone... but I'm willing to try to persuade him... I think he'll be glad he did.)

Anan - he might have - who knows.

Teri - He might as well just face the reality of the situation now... but then again, he might enjoy your methods of convincing him!

Nice. I am a fan of text sex, flirt, what have you...as long as it is completely mutual. There is an enticing quality to getting "vibed" with your phone in your front pocket...

(wink) Fun. Thanks for sharing.

Be well.

Kathryn - Thankfully, that has never happened to me but... how fun if it did! (Especially if it were a cute guy who could appreciate it) and how possibly awful!

Harassed - It was fun - very "in the moment" kind of thing.

Mama - I love those things too, especially when they just... happen!
