What's your... Type?

My dream guy is dark with brilliant green eyes.  He is tall, well built but not buff... more just fit.  He is that guy with the chiseled face, great smile, and a confidence that leaves him comfortable in any situation.

I have yet to meet him.

He is the dream; the ideal; the guy that I can picture myself with but that probably doesn't exist.  A guy named David, San Francisco architect, came close, but that was a decade ago

I realize that I am probably not going to find my david in the real world (outside of Florence that is) so I keep him as a dream and am perfectly content with the real guys that enter my life.

You know, the primarily blonde guys of all shapes and body types.  The guys with the blue eyes (and yes, they all have had blue eyes) a striking contrast to the dark, green eyed man of my dreams.  They are the men that are funny and confident and are not perfect in anyway (just as I am not).  To date, I have been involved with only 1 man with dark hair - and it was great hair while he had it!

For some reason, I tend to find myself attractive to blondes.

A friend believes that we are drawn to those who have the opposite look - thus, since I am fairly dark myself, I am drawn to blondes.

I have thought about it from time to time and honestly, well, I am not sure that I am drawn to a look in the end at all.  I think it is something else.  There is that little something that draws me to a man, and I don't think that it is the color of his hair or eyes or complexion.

Every once in a while I will read a man or a woman specify exactly what physical traits they like - from height to body type to coloring.  I want to ask them if they consider all the people who do not fit that type?  If, in the end, it is the physical appearance that is attractive or the person within that frame?

The architect who came so close to fitting my ideal looking man was truly ideal in so many ways... and yet, there wasn't a click.  He liked glazed doughnuts and vanilla ice cream and coffee, black - where I like the more exotic doughnuts, love the variety that ice cream presents (so many flavors to try) and am my favorite barista's (very cute I might add) worst nightmare!

I think about all the great guys I would have missed had I narrowed my vision to only see the tall dark men with green eyes... and am glad that I didn't.  For some, the look maybe a key point or a deciding factor.  For me, it is the person within the body that counts!

(That said, if there are any tall, dark haired, green eyed men out there... well, you know where to find me!)

(Hey,who am I kidding,  blonds are more than welcome to find me as well!)

I thought I knew my type... but then again, I didn't know Sarah.

I have no type when it comes to looks. I have just never been able to narrow it down. Hair vs. no hair, tall vs. not tall, dark vs. light. I just cannot say.

But personality, now THERE'S where I can figure out my type.

Aaron - That was sweet!

JR - Yeah, personality... is a deal maker or breaker!

I was just commenting to someone today that asked me if I like blonds or brunettes. I said "reds". However I continued on to let them know that it isn't a specific hair color, eyes, or body type that attracts me, it is the combination of it all, who the person is, and how comfortable they are with themselves that makes or breaks it for me.

CCD - That's exactly it. Sometimes the right person is in a package that becomes the ideal because "they" are in that package.

my type? George Clooney :)

my last love was all the things on my "no" list, so what does that tell you about my type??

I know that guy! Sorry to say he just got remarried. I'll keep you in mind if he becomes available again. :)

(Actually, I've known a number of them.)

There is not a dream-guy for me. It's my thinking that it's dangerous to have that person in mind. Dangerous to me, anyway. No good can come of it.

Happy hunting!

Funny!

Tall - subjective. Light brown hair, green eyes here.

Kathryn - I am guessing your X didn't look anything like George! ;)

Teri - Open mind is the only way to go!

Scotty - Okay, so you are coming out to DC... when? ;)

Subjectively tall? Does that mean he is tall compared to a short person?

Hey, The Exception, how tall are you anyway?

The Exception said...

Teri - Good question ... How tall are you Scotty?

(I am fairly tall at 5'7")

5'10". I don't really consider myself 'tall'. More average. Though, it looks like you could still be in heels and we'd be ok ;)

Just let me know when your flight lands Scotty!! ;)
